Come and Sing

Stainer The Crucifixion

Good Friday – 29 April 2024

Join us on Good Friday to sing Stainer’s well-loved The Crucifixion and a selection of choruses from Mendelssohn’s Elijah.

We will rehearse on the day from 4.30pm to 6.00pm, and there will be a tea provided after the rehearsal before the performance at 7.00pm.

Bring your own copy of the Stainer – if you don’t have one, they are available to purchase on Amazon, or you can download and print from the cpdl or imslp websites. We do have a few spare copies as well, so do ask if you like to borrow one.

As well as the Stainer, we plan to sing the following numbers from Mendelssohn’s Elijah, which you can download here – please let us know if you would like us to provide hard copies on the day:

No 15 – Cast thy burden upon the Lord (sung after No 3 of The Crucufixion)
No 9 – Blessed are the men who fear Him (sung after No 7 of The Crucufixion)
No 1 – Help, Lord! (sung after No 13 of The Crucufixion)
No 29 – He, watching over Israel (sung after No 16 of The Crucufixion)
No 31 – O rest in the Lord (sung in unison after No 19 of The Crucufixion)
No 32 – He that shall endure (sung after No 31)

There will be a charge of £10 per singer to cover costs – if you would like to join us please use the form below to register, and we will let you know details for payment.

If you don’t sing, but would like to come and listen, admission to the performance at 7pm is free, with a retiring collection.
